Husqvarna Viking Cam Replacement

Husqvarna Viking 6000 Sewing Machine Cam Replacement

This cam gear replacement applies to most of the older Husqvarna Viking sewing machines. It is not a difficult repair. The sewing machine should have a good service and clean. Make sure that the buttonhole Mechanism is clean and not sticking.

  1. I have a 2000 SL. The cam on the front right stopped working properly. It would only do a straight stitch AND the reverse button stopped functioning as well. I took it to a repairman at the local husky dealership and was told that it was unrepairable. I then purchased a $4600 Designer 2. I never got rid of my 2000 SL. Now I want to try to fix it b/c I feel it is better at sewing certain things than my computerized machine. Any thoughts on repairing this front cam? Can i do it myself? Is it worth it?

  3. The video to replace the cracked cam and the instructions in the video are straight forward. However, when I lifted the connecting arm off to get to the pin, the entire piece came off and I am not sure how to replace this piece and where and how to reattach the spring. Any suggests or details of how this piece fits would be appreciated.

  5. I replaced the cam gear, problem is reinstalling the connecting arm for zig-zag. The piece is not broken, just disconnected. And I got the new cam from sewingpartsonline, who were great to work with. I just need a picture of how the connecting arm fits in and where the spring connects. Make sense?

  8. Hello,
I have a Viking Selectronic 6570. I had the cam gear out of the machine because I thought it might have broken and I don't know how the spring goes back on. :/
    Thanks for any feedback,
    TB

  9. I see how you do the cam in the back (sort of), but my problem on my Husqvarna 6010 is the stitch width knob won't pull out. Is that a cam problem too? Or something else?

  10. The stitch width knob on my Husqvarna 6010 won't pull out. Is this a cam problem? Or something solved more easily? Just discovered this when I went to do my first buttonhole.

  11. I was trying to free up the reverse (stuck in reverse) on my 6010 and I removed the spring that seems to connect the reverse button. I don't know where to reattach it. Any help?
